This is from 'Knitting for Baby' by Melanie Falick and Kristin Nicholas. I used to make these when our youngest was a baby/toddler. (I just recently threw one out that was squished beyone recognition). I have a feeling once they see this one they will want me to make them new ones, too... This one is for their new baby cousin, though. He's only a month old. But, at least I am making it ahead of time and not too late...

There are all kinds of online free patterns for balls at knitting pattern central. I posted some links in my blog post, if anyone wants to make one. This one worked up so fast, I started it after dinner and finished it before bed.

Wow!! What a cute ball!! I've always wanted to make these things, but to add those jingle bells or a cat toy in the middle as to make noise when the baby shakes the ball!!
