Just A Question About Toys For Tots

I didn't really know where else to put this. Does anyone know if Toys for Tots takes crocheted items? I know they have to be new but can they be hand made?

I'm honestly not sure. I know our local Salvation Army takes crocheted items, and redressed baby dolls in good condition. Which reminds me, I have to make some outfits and give them the two babys I found in the thrift shop.

Most of the TfT collection centers in our area only take new toys in their original packaging. That way they can be sure the toys remain basically sterile and clearly unused by others before delivery to the recipients. The centers I know of would not accept a new crocheted toy that was not in some sort of commercially sealed package.

 

But I'm sure there are plenty of churches and other charitable entities that would LOVE crocheted soft toys (without chokeables like buttons, eyes, beads, or large holes, etc) And I know the blankets and preemie/infant clothing is always needed.

 

But Toys for Tots provides a specific product for a specific purpose. But you can always call and ask.

The Toys For Tots program takes "new, unwrapped toys". In the past, I have given them Beanie Babies with no problem. I'd give it a try!
