I took a look at this and wondered how they would do fans in a knit stitch. Then I opened the instructions. They're kind of a mix of knit and crochet: "Cast on..." and then the stitches are all crochet.

It's the "Pull Sutherland" at the bottom.

If you click to Page 3, there's also a croceted dress pattern called "Outfit Modigliani”.

I think what I meant to say was they used the term "Cast On" when they meant start a beginning chain.
