swivel instruction

Can someone please describe what swivel means? the instructions DO NOT say to turn.

Are supposed to swivel the hook 360 degrees to make an edging? To do that, turn the hook , towards you , thereby twisting the stitches.

Ok..I understand somewhat "swivel" or I thougt. I can't get this to work. It turns out looking like I'm making a hat, not the sole of a sandal.

Pattern is Small Sandal from Lesley Stanfield.

rnd 1: Miss 2ch, 1dc in each of next 11 ch, ch 2, swivel work,[1dc in rem strand of next ch] 12 times, 2ch.

rnd 2: [1dc in each of next 12 sts, 3 dc in 2 ch sp at end]twice

 

I'm not a novice, but honestly...I'm stumped and this doesn't look to be complicated. What does she mean by remaining strand of next chain?

sounds like you are to work in the chains then work down the other side or edge of the same chains. you will make a strip or long oval. I think they said swivel because you are not turning as you usually would to build on the dc row, you are going around the original chain.

I just discoverd that dc is actually sc in this Brittish book...duh. This makes all the difference in the world. I thought I was losing my mind!
