Philippine Crocheters?

Is there anyone who may have lived in the Philippens that may be able to help me. My brother has asked me to make something for his girlfriend who lives in Manila. Can anyone tell me what a young woman from the island would like, I don't know very much about the culture or styles there.

Hi Melissa! I'm from Manila.....how about a summer top as it is summer here? Crocheted shrugs, shawls and ponchos are very 'in' here right now. :-)))))

i am not in the phillipines.. but i would say something in cotton so it can breathe
