a question about japanese crochet

not sure if this is in the right place. i got two japanese crochet books for dog clothes and i can't figure what hook to use. help. please. pretty please.

I don't have any Japanese mags, but does it give a mm size or a # somewhere where a hook size should be? B/c then in the back of several mags or leaflets, or probably online, you could find a comparison chart.

 

Otherwise you're stuck with gauge swatches with hooks that seem reasonable to the yarn and project. (WW, G/H etc (ami's F))

Be careful about converting mm into US sizes. Diffrent brands have diffrent conversions; my Susan Bates and Arrow hooks for (US)'H' have diffrent mm sizes. Swatch tests are always needed.
