Can Anyone Translate from French to English??

Recommended Posts

I would love to try some of the patterns at this site, but don't understand the instructions (it looks like French). I tried translating it into English, but it still didn't make much sense that way, either. Anyway, if anyone could help, sure would appreciate it. Here's the URL:

Thanks in advance for any help!

Here's a translator I use from my Google toolbar. It will install for IE and for Firefox.

If you don't want to do the whole toolbar thing, here's a Google tool that may help.

Hope one of these helps you!

There are copyright issues involved with making translations of patterns and distributing them without the copyright holder's consent.

If you find somebody who can make a translation for you, it would be best to have that person first contact the copyright holder and make sure that they don't mind if the person translates the pattern and sends it to you.

And you'd need to reassure the copyright holder that the translated pattern would NOT be distributed to anyone else out of respect for their copyright.

Unfortunately, due to problems in the past with people translating foreign-language patterns and then widely posting/distributing the translated version without permission, there are some people who don't want anybody making translations of their patterns for others. It's hard enough to find sites written in your own language that are violating your copyright; it's much harder to find such sites written in other languages. And then, if that site is in another country, it's even much, much harder to be able to do anything to protect your copyright.

Thanks for all the helpful information, but:

1. I have tried all the free translation programs--they don't work because of the symbols used in the patterns.

2. As for the copyright part of translating it, there is already a page out there that has it translated, but they obviously used one of the above-mentioned programs because it did not change the symbols to anything I am familiar with.

Oh, well, I guess I'll have to call up some friends who live in France to see what they have to say.
