pineapple lace duster

is anyone making or have made this yet.

may 2005 crochetmagazine pineapple lace duster

I'm having trouble with the belt.

actually row nine the belt increase stitch

anyone help me there please

I'm not making the duster but wow it's pretty. What are you having trouble with? The funky wording? They didn't make that easy to read did they?

YESSSSSSSSS

it looks so simple,I got to row nine where it says to do the belt increase

but all I get out of that row is lumps....lol

no increase....

I also posted to stitchguide forum and i had a reply

the lady said she tried and got the same"lump" I did

she thought maybe a typo or something

I hope someone figures it out....its sooooo pretty

The little pic they show doesn't show the pretty pineapples at the bottom but you can see the belt.

 

The row reads:

sl st in each of first 7 sts (not counted as sts),

ch 1,

sc in same st as last sl st,

sc in each of next 6 [6,6,8] sc,

[belt inc, sc in each of next 8 [9,11,12] sc] twice,

turn. (35 [37,41,45] sts)

 

That does seem like a whole lot of sc's jammed together in that one spot.

 

How did it work out for you in Row 1? There they call it a decrease but they say to sc in the next 8 twice for that too.

That duster is very pretty. But it appears more like a sweater than a duster.

well I got as far as the belt increase row

sc for 8 stitches

then I tried to do the belt increase stitch in (special stitches)

but I just got a raised bump

it reads

 

ch1[sc in 8,9,11,12]sc,

belt increase...twice

so I thought by the brackets you wold do the first 8 sc or what size ,then belt increase.

then 8... then belt increase again...then continue

 

this is the belt increase

working in 2sts; sc in first st,sc in 2nd st, [TURN,sc in same st as last sc made,sc in next st] twice

all I get is a raised bump
