Thread size

I am new to thread crochet and don't really understand how the size works. Is the smaller the number the finer the thread or vice versa. I would love to do some projects but cannon work with the 10 thread.

It's the other way around. The higher the size number, the thinner the thread is.

 

Say, a size 8 thread works best with 1.5 mm hook but the size 10 thread works best with 1.25 mm hook. Basically, a size 10 thread is thicker than a size 20 thread. :hook

The larger the number the smaller the thread. Size 10 is the common size of thread used. The recommended hook size for it is a 7/ 1.65 mm.

You can find this size thread at most places that sell yarn and crochet supplies. Hope this helps.
