Do You "Doodle" in crochet?

Recommended Posts

I have a skein of yarn with typically several sample projects attached. I try out patterns, stitches, etc. It's RS Super Saver in a white/beige so it holds the stitches and is easy to see. Yesteday I had 3 things running off the yarn so that eventually I could just frog them all and have my skein back. :hook

Another doodler confessing! I, like Caroline, wondered about saving the doodles for freeform scrumbles. I've tried freeform a few times but never came up with anything I liked. Must be me, because some of the pieces I see are beautiful. I believe young girls used to learn their stitches by making a long sampler piece with sections of different stitches.

Hmmmm....I guess I sort of half doodle. More like measured scribbling, :lol.

I try to do gauges on some items when I am using a different hook or yarn, to determine the final overall measurements. But sometimes if I think it would look better with a little tweak here or there, I will rip it out and try it again my way. Like I said half doodle, or measured scribbling.
