Need help for son

Recommended Posts

I have no idea where to post this question. My son wants to crochet a Pokemon Mew character and I need to know where to find a pattern for this. Would it be amigurumi or just a regular pattern? If anyone knows where I might find a pattern for this, please let me know.

Thanks so much!

Pokemon is a trademarked character. As far as I know there isn't any legal patterns out there for any of the characters. It's against the rules to post them here even if there are patterns out there unless they are legel.

You can look at pictures or your son's Mew and try to wing it yourself or use something similar and change it up.

You might try a cat/kitty, mouse, or rat.

Some places to look:

Thank you so much. I didn't even think about the fact that it was licensed. We found a picture of Mew and a pattern for a panda bear and another animal that we can try to make work. We'll just wing it and see what happens. Thanks so much. By the way, I'm not the one crocheting this, my son wants to do it. (he's 13 and he's pretty good. He can crochet beanies without a pattern so I think he can probably do this with no trouble.) Thanks again.

Unfortunately, Empress is right. All the Pokemon characters are trademarked and copyrighted. In order to legally distribute a pattern featuring any Pokemon character, the designer would need to make licensing arrangements with the trademark owner. And those are usually very, very expensive.

Not to mention some companies won't even bother responding to licensing requests from independent designers. Many companies (like Disney) have very specific requirements that a company must meet (years in business, types of products made, yada yada) before they'll even think about spending time responding to a licensing request.

I think the best bet is to look around for some amigurumi patterns that are of similar shapes, and then your son can try to create something himself.

I have a picture of a Mew I made myself. But I didn't post the pattern. The picture is on my Deviantart account. I didn't even think about licensing either, but I did make a Mew. It's very easy actually, and it's my first original pattern.
