Enterprise Cotton Knitting Yarn

I have come across a vintage pattern for purses using this yarn, the hook required is a size 1 steel hook. Can anyone help me with what yarn would work with this size hook? I'm pretty sure that the Enterprise Cotton Knitting Yarn is no longer available.

I'd try a size 5 or 3 crochet thread.

Thanks, I was thinking Patons Grace maybe...or JP Coats Crosheen....just needed someone else to verify that...my ideas are never good on their own...lol.

Speed Cro-sheen is THREAD size 3, should be OK (not Knit Cro-sheen, which is smaller, size 10, too small for that hook; Luster-sheen is fingering weight YARN size 2, too big).

 

Paton's Grace is light worsted/DK weight YARN size 3, way to big for that hook. Of course you could use this with a bigger hook, but get a bigger purse.

 

It would be nice if the threads and yarn people would all get together and standardize, wouldn't it??

Yes, it sure would - I actually am using a much bigger yarn with a larger hook...the small hook/yarn was making a tiny tiny purse...lol...not sure what they carried in their purse in the 40's & 50's, but I apparently have more stuff.
