Chenille Thick & Quick

I was wondering and hoping somebody might be able to help

I'm making an afghan using the LionBrand Chenille Thick and Quick... it's made with 91% acrylic and 9% rayon:

the directions say to hand wash and lay flat to dry but has anybody ever machine washed this yarn? How does it turn out? Would it damage the yarn if I used the gentle cycle for washing and drying?

i have washed it in the machine on delicate in a mesh bag and it was fine.. also low temp on the dryer..if you are really worried make a small swatch and wash and dry it

A fellow shopper said she washed hers and it fell apart. Don't know if it's because it's large article and the agitation of the washer beats it up or what. I just made one for my son and will advise dry cleaning, but I used a Woolspun yarn in it, too. Small projects would probably be ok in washer.
