If this helps any, I've used a G hook and worsted weight and it turned out a little more than double the size.

I've also gone the opposite way, used a yarn (doll) pattern with thread and a 1.65mm hook and gotten something a little less than half the size of the yarn one.

So...yes, you did ask in a way someone else can understand!:hook

(at least, I think I understood...but it is getting late for me!)

If I am using ww and a size I hook what is the recomended size of the original finished doily?:think Hope I asked that in a way someone besides me can understand:lol

 

Figure out what your gauge is with the ww yarn and the sz I hook compared to the original size and do the math.
