Dumb yarn question.....

boo1

Question

If I use a double WW yarn (or 2 threads at a time, I guess that is equivalent?) but the pattern calls for regular WW yarn, do I buy more of the double WW or the same? (I'm thinking thicker would make it close to the same size......:think ) Or do I just stick with the same amount and use a bigger hook?

If the pattern calls for a single strand of ww, and you are going to do two strands of ww, you will need both more yarn and a bigger hook and your project will be bigger and less drapey (is that a word?)

What are you making? Are you aiming for something the same size as the pattern, but fewer total stitches? In that case bigger hook certainly, and more yarn probably.

If you follow the pattern (same number of total stitches in your project, with a larger end product), I'd think you'd need more than double the yarn because you'd be using more in each stitch with a bigger hook.
