HELP for a newbie crocheter please!!

Question

I need some help with a Rowan Pattern "Jasmine" from Rowan 39. I knit this cardigan a year ago but since then it has been languishing unfinished because it has a lacey crocheted edging (which I didn't realise when I started knitting) and I can't crochet!

Well, I couldn't a year ago, in the last month or so I have been teaching myself to crochet and have just begun the edging. I managed the first 6 rounds fin but then got stuck with this direction on round 7

"1ss into next ch sp by going down into ch sps of previous rounds and back up and across into next round"

I understand "1ss into next ch sp" but I don't understand the bit about going down into the previous rounds and back up and across..."

Have tried to do it a couple of ways and am getting very confused. Please can someone help!!!

I think I know what it is asking you to do, but before I flummox us both, do you have a photo of the edging you are attempting that you can share?

I immediately thought of this technique (roughly speaking) when you wrote your question.

The picture might help you to see what you would do. I am not saying that you would do it exactly like this but this could give you the idea if it seems to be what your pattern says.

I found the picture at the Rowan site... I hope the link will work. I had to login to get to it :wlol
