Changing Knit to Crochet

Noahsmom

Question

How do you change a knitting pattern into a crochet pattern? Is there a tutorial somewhere or a chart that would match stitches or anything??? I don't know why I can't ever do anything the easy way,:blush but I have absolutely positively fallen in love with a knitted shawl and I don't knit. :no I have looked and looked, searched and searched and have found no pattern, free or for sale, which is even similar in crochet. At this point, I was even thinking of just trying to make one similar out of fabric, I'm that desperate to have this shawl.

Bev, I don't know of a tutorial or anything online...but I know at my local AC Moore store they have a book titled From knit to crochet or something like that that shows you a swatch of the knitted stitch and a corresponding crochet that could be used...there is also From Needle to Hook which is the same kind of book, but I think the first is better and has more info and stitches. Hope this helps :yes:hook

I bought the book mentioned above, because I am a knitter and a crocheter and I was curious.

I have been very dissappointed: instead of telling me how to get look and the feeling I get with knitted things it is all about exchanging special stitches (that I would never ever use in knitting) with even more complicated crocheted ones... I don't think that this book is as good as the title and the description sounds.

Can you post a photo of the desired shawl - or a link?

Maybe I have an idea of the stitches when I saw it.
