The Speed Hook is just Lion Brand's name for their really big S size hook - because the hook is so big your project works up quick, so they call it a Speed Hook. (I think they have Speed Needles for knitting, too.)

You'd want to use the biggest hook you could find. I've seen a few custom-made S-hooks for sale on eBay before, but I'm sure others besides Lion Brand make big hooks too.

I have also seen the "S" hooks at Joann.

When using a hook that large...you are going to be using more than one strand at a time ( amd maybe a bulkier yarn)...so between the large size of the hook and the multiple strands of yarn...your project will (should) work-up quick!

Wow, I have a pattern that calls for a 19 mm hook and I was wondering what size that was. So it's the elusive S! Good to know I could buy it off that website. :hook
