I was reading in the other thread about felting with a certain kind of wool. i see it has to be 100%, but someone said that some 100% can also be superwash. WHere will it stste this? In the washing instructions? Here is a link to Smileys. I am wondering if these two brand names are okay to felt with:

can anyone show me an example of where I would see superwash in the description? Just want to make sure! :D

Superwash will NOT work. It will not felt or full. You need 100% wool (where on the label it says to handwash and lay to dry kind of thing) Machine washable wool (superwash) is pretreated to allow you to wash in washer and dry therefore it will not shrink and do what you want it to do.

I have bought the Reynolds Lopi from Smileys and that works great. Lopi tends to be a little "fuzzy" when fulled (aka felted to some people). If you don't like that look, you can use a sweater shaver to reduce some of the fuzzies. The patton's classic should also work

Usually either the fibre content will say "superwash wool", or the care instructions will say machine washable. If the yarn says hand wash only and is wool, it'll be great for fulling/felting. ;)
