preemie blankets

i'm wondering how big preemie blankets are supposed to be. i'm using some scrap yarn to make some to donate to the preemie ward, but i dont know if they are too small. i know preemies are small, but what is the standard size?

i've heard 18".

My youngest was born at just over three pounds. She was just over four pounds when we took custody of her. When we fed her, bibs were so big, so we would tuck a washcloth under her chin and it covered her past her feet!

 

I'd say 15-24 is ideal! My middle daughter now uses the small preemie blankets for her dolls!

One of my coworkers had a premie and she said the Project Linus blankets that she received were about the size of a piece of paper.
