Before or After?

Crochet Nanny

Recommended Posts

I am sure this has been covered before. And I am sorry of not having the time to look through and find the answer myself.:( I am having a hard time finding the size yarn I need in the color I want. So my question is should I dye the yarn before or after I make the project? I am using Red Heart Baby Soft 3-ply 100% acrylic. I have never dyed yarn before, so I really have no idea what to do. I need it to be a light beige color. Thanks for your help.:hug

Acrylic doesn't dye well, if at all. You can't use koolaid or food coloring, and I'm not sure about Rit dye. I've always dyed my wool before working up a project, but want to work one up, then dye to see how it looks.

Rit dyes do not work on acrylic look here.

I don't recommend Rit dyes it for dyeing. Procion dyes are better for cotton (celluose fibers) and acid dyes are better for wools(protein fibers)
