What can I do sbout the wool smell?

Lost

I'm new to felting and I absolutely love it, but the sheep smell is pretty strong when the wool is wet. I didn't realize that wool smells like that. Even after I wash my felted pieces a couple of times it smells like sheep. Is there a way to mask the smell or get rid of it? Also are there brands that are less smelly. I bought Lion brand.

When you're done felting, give the final rinse in water and a little hair conditioner. Yes, human conditioner works wonders on wool. It softens it gently and smells so good.

As for the smell when you're felting...(or dyeing) see my blog entry for Dec 4 2005

I use fabric softener in the final rinse. I usually wash it with vinegar to help it felt better and so I have a Sheep-bathed-in-pickles smell if I don't. Blegh. But, yes, once it is dry the smell tends to lessen. I may have to try the hair conditioner trick.
