Thread Sizes........

Ok enlighten me. I have only worked with #10 so far. And from what I understand there's 20, 30, and 80??? What happened to 40, 50, 60, 70?? LOL

 

And ...can you buy the finer thread in stores? Or do you have to order it?> And just how thin is the 80? Does it come close to sewing thread or what? I am very intrigued by this.

Hello,

 

I do carry size 30, 40 and 50 threads in my ebay store.

These threads can be used for fine crochet or tatting. size 40, 50 and finer numbers are like sewing threads especially size 50 and thinner ones.

My stash has mecerized cotten thread in sizes 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 100, and 150. I even have a knob of 200 (which will never grace my hook, I think). I have never seen size 90.

 

Of course, I have a stash of very fine hooks to match. (.95 to .4)
