Which way is better?

I was reading this thread and I noticed several of you said that you crochet in both loops. Like some of the posts, I'm self taught. I have always used the back loop, unless the pattern directed differently. Until recently I've only worked on afghans. Lately I've gotten into accessories and wearables. I want them to be pretty and sturdy. So should I be using both loops? Thanks for the input !!

I use both loops unless they say otherwise. I sometimes use both even if they don't, it seems to keep it from streching and getting "holey", at least for me because I crochet lose. But some stitches have to be done in the back or front loop only. I've done sweaters and vests and crochet in both unless again, they say otherwise.

Neither is really better. It just depends on how you like the look and how much you want it to look like the pattern. Just keep in mind you might be way off in gauge and design of the pattern though. As long as you don't mind and it works out, you're okay.

Personally I go in both loops unless the pattern says otherwise.
