Overdying brown wool?

Okay, so I have this wonderfully soft brown yarn that I reclaimed from a thrift store sweater, but it's about the color of, er, baby poop. LOL Any idea what I could use to overdye it and make it less.....poopy?

I don't know about overdying it, but could you carry along another color which would give a tweedy look and take attention away from the brown color.

When I bought my Procion (sp) dyes, the lady told me Steel Blue can be used to overdye any 'mistakes' and while I haven't used them yet (not allowed to in Mom's kitchen) it makes sense to me. You'll get a blue-gray overtone that might not be bad. I'd say try a small sample and see if you like it. Or try dark brown Wilton's icing dye in a very strong solution. Good Luck and let us see.

How about a warm red or orange to give it a rust color?
