Picots

Katchkan - was it you who gave instructions for a better picot? If it was, do you mind repeating.

Unfortunately It wasn't me, I do remember the post though. I can't find it at the moment. It had a link to a site that went into the differnet ways to do do picots.

So what is your problem with picots? I do have a couple different ways I do them.

I just want my picots to be nice and neat and clean. Sometimes they are blobby at the bottom - so I pull it out and have another go.

 

I've seen your stunning Irish Crochet. How do you do your picots?

There are so many ways to do picots. On my latest project, the usual ch3/sl st didn't work out great, so I chained more (5 I think), and instead of doing a sl st, I did a sc instead. Gave it more definition, which is what I was looking for.

 

If the picot is right above a dc (rather than lost in a sea of ch stitches), I'll sl st into the front, top loop of the stitch and the diagonal bar under it. This, to me, gives a better visual effect.

 

They're a pain to do, but I think they add so much to the finished product.
