When you finish chaining, you will have 197 chs + 1 on your hook.

Then you do a dc in 4th ch from hook, which means you skip only 3, and do your dc into the 4th. 197 minus 3 = 194 chs. If you do one dc in each of the 194 chs, you will have 194 dc. Plus, the 3 chs you skip count as one dc.

Voila, 194 + 1 = 195 dc!

Hope that helps.

I don't want to see anyone calling themselves a loser :P

We just all learn at different paces, some of us pick things up at lightning speed and others learn at a snail's pace but none of us are losers.

Amen to that, Chatty! No one should ever beat themselves up for not learning/grasping something "quick enough", that's just old programming playing. Be kind to yourself! :hug

If I had a nickel for all the frustrations that I had while crocheting and reading patterns, I'd be a rich woman....lol! Just hang in there! It took me forever to learn to crochet and every project that I tackle is another learning experience. Whatever you do.....never give up! We all had our bad days, but we are never losers. We attempt something that some people don't dare try....and that makes us all winners.:cheer
