Maple and Water buffalo

HI,

 

I just got some shop time and made this hook today. It is a Boye #8 set in a Water buffalo horn and spalted maple handle. It is 4 1/2 inches overall and was turned for a smaller hand.

 

My farrier gave me a box of horn and I just had to try something out right away. This is the result.

 

 

By the way, I took a quick look at some of the work folks were doing for the Crochet Olympics. That is some very nice work. Go for the Gold.

Kathy took this hook right away. It is light and fits the smaller hand really well. I will make some more similar over the next several weeks.

 

As an aside, Kathy's shawl is beautiful, unfortunately it just doesn't go well with my sweat shirt and jeans. It is just way too nice.
