Need Help Starting a Chain on the Hook

KatieCrochets

Question

Hi all,

I am having trouble starting a chain on the crochet hook. Like how you very first start out. I didn't know what I was doing and I just tied it on with a loose knot and then formed my chain starting with that knot. So I could at least practice the chains and stitches. So now that I have that down and am actually trying to make something that is more than a nose-cozy for my dog (just a few rows), I need to know how you are really suppossed to start. Because the knot comes undone...

Thank you!!

Katie

:cheer <---- haha that is so funny!!

You just start with a slip knot, put it on the hook and pull to tighten it around the hook. Leave it just a little loose so that it's easier to work with when you're crocheting.
