keeping copyright on your patterns which are published by others

Gran

Question

I haven't found this addressed in C'ville yet. If it has been, could s/o give me the reference?

What is the general practice for keeping the copyright to your designs, your patterns when you submit them and they are accepted for publication?

I don't write for periodicals which buy the writer's work along with the copyright. I only write for publication when I have clear legal ownership of my work and the agreement states that they are paying to use my work.

How is this for patterns?

A woman used to post here who did that...published patterns in magazines but kept the copyright. You could try e-mailing her through C'ville...her username is Croshay_Queen. She could probably help you if she's not too busy.
