My scarf is too long!

wendyRN

Question

I took a break from my christmas gifts and am making myself a scarf. I never tried it on until last night and it is half way finished! The sucker goes to my knees:eek

I crocheted it lengthwise. Ive been looking at it and wondering if I could just cut it off to the desired length and knot the ends since I am going to use fringe anyway.

Is this even possible? anyone ever done that? am I living in a dream world?

You could learn to like it. But, in answer to your question, yes, you could snip the threads at the very end and pull them open back the the spot that is the length you want. Once you get to that spot, make sure to pull the ends through any open loops so it doesn't unravel any more, then knot them at the base of the piece and cut them at the length of fringe you might like, or weave the ends in. If you go for fringe, you will probably need to add more fringe, as this will look a bit sparse.

Long is good. You could always fold it in half before putting it on, then slip the loose ends through the folded end when you wrap it around your neck. :)

Cutting it seems so harsh after all that work! :eek
