I has to be animal fibers....I think alpaca and llama will full or felt, too. You can use blends, but you'll not get an even fulling when finished. It might be interesting to crochet up a square and full it to see what happens. It may create an effect you like. :) :))

I've never heard of super wash wool. If I can get out to a yarn store in the next couple days, I may try a bag. I have mostly acrylic here. I don't know that I'll have a lot of testing time for this project though. It will probably be the test. :)

Thanks for the imput!

Has anyone used Merino wool?

Merino wool

I"m hoping to get some yarn tomorrow, so I'm trying to do my research today. I found the fishemans wool, for $10! This is only $5. would it work? And it's colored! Another thing, I can't see the pictures on that site right now. So if you see some problem please let me know! Thanks gals!

Hi Amber. The merino should work great. And it's probably tonnes softer than the Fisherman's!

(PS - superwash wool is wool that's treated so that it doesn't full when you put it through the washing machine. It's great to use for kids' clothes and socks, since they need to be washed so frequently.)

Hey!

Is the Patons Merino something new? I've never seen it before and we are littered with the big craft stores <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/huh.gif" />

It looks great! Nice colors, it's 100% wool and it doesn't say it's superwash so it should work for fulling.

With the price, keep in mind while it is half the cost, it's also half the yarn! But being already colored, it's much more convenient!

Let us know how it works out

Merino wool felts and fulls the most. It really binds itself down to a tight product. Merino blends don't full as much. :))
