Help me understand--- CORRECTLY

chsarrow

Question

I have a pattern that says- dc2tog over next 2 dc.

If I understand right...dc2tog means... dc twice in same stitch.

Does "over next 2 dc" mean...to do this for 2 stitches?:think:help

I want to understand it correctly before I do it and it is wrong.

Thanks

Charlene

What your pattern is calling for is a decrease. That means you are going to make a dc in the next 2 stitches, The 1st dc you will yo, pull through 2 loops once, leaving 2 loops on your hook, begin the 2nd dc in the next stitch, yo pull through 2 loops once, There should be 3 loops on your hook. Now yo and pull through all the loops on the hook, This is a marriage of two stitches that become one. A common way to decrease. Hope this helps.

Hi Charlene

Usually dc2tog means you're decreasing stitches. It's done in 2 stitches.

You start your dc in the 1st st but you only do half of the dc. You should have

2 loops on your hook. Start your next dc, pull yarn through 2 loops. You should

now have 3 loops on your hook. Pull yarn through all loops. This gives you

a decreased st.
