What are you blocking?  Corners sounds like a blanket, maybe, or shawl?  What is it made of - if acrylic, it does not need blocking in my opinion.  Some people like to ruin the soft, squishy, stretchy yarny properties of acrylic by heat blocking/'Killing" it.  I am obviously one of those people.  Dampen it and lay flat to shape to dry should work fine.

The only thing I block, and aggressively, are lace doilies made with cotton doily thread items.

Forgot to add, there are 'blocking wires' available for shawls or lace things with straight sides made of natural fiber, which helps to 'open up' the lace pattern of a large thing like a shawl.  But acrylic lacy items should block fine with the 'lay flat to shape and let dry' routine.
