Crochet cord help please!

CrochetFanaticsUnite

Question

So I have this cord from old necklaces, but it’s starting to fall apart at the ends. I don’t know if they’re Icord or not. Also I don’t know what hook sizes I would need for the different sections.

I am fairly sure that is manufactured cord, not  knit or crochet Icord.  It also appears to be plastic(?) which would be too stiff to crochet with .

I'd take the cord to the bead section of the craft store (or maybe fabric store) and see if you can find something similar 'by the yard' or however they sell it.  Or, if it's plastic (it looks like it is from the photo), you should be able to keep it from fraying further by just barely melting it, would only take a second (literally, and carefully) to do this by quickly passing over a candle flame.

I would not try to crochet new cords, you'd have to use doily thread which you could wax to protect it a tiny bit, but it wouldn't be as sturdy.

The two fatter pieces look like crochet, but that's just a guess.  There is nylon 'yarn' but I cannot see a way (looking at pics) to repair given how nylon works.

This website sells a lot of Omega nylon.  They also have photos of projects buyers have sent in.
