It's a fingering weight yarn

Has an interesting twist to the yarn from the pictures I saw.

The photo looks like bouclé style yarn from the photo, which might help you with googling.  I'm not familiar with any currently available yarn like that.  If you are in the US, Michaels has a fingering weight acrylic 'plain' (not bouclé) yarn that is inexpensive and nice to work with, comes in several colors.
