Pattern says dc dec in next 5 chains

since you use 2 chains for each decrease, what does this mean?

Does your pattern have clusters?   Then a dc decrease is made in same stitch.  Not decreasing but forming a stitch with that maneuver.  I made 5dc in one stitch but it’s one cluster stitch. (Pineapple Hotpad)

Another thought, you can decrease 5 chains at once, too.

I was thinking 5dctog (decrease) as well, which is sort of related to a cluster (cluster uses 1 stitch usually, decreases use more than 1, but the stitch-forming action is the same).  One thing that I always do when I'm uncertain of an instruction is to look at the pattern photo in that spot, what does it look like is happening there?
