Help with crochet pattern im a beginner

Hi im beginning an amigurami pony. It asks 

Magic circle dc 6

Double crochet 2 in each ch 6 times =12

Does the 6 times mean I need to do 6 rounds or just dc 2 in each ch to equal 12 st 🤔 thanks

I would think it means 2 dc in each dc of the previous round (not sure why it says in each ch?) for a total of 12 dc in that round.
