Need to get rid of 4" of blanket

NSK

Question

I have about 4" too much in the top six rows of a blanket I am crocheting.  No, I didn't count right and I tried to keep track, but got off track.  Can  I make a seam, bind it off, and cut out the excess, like sewing up a seam to make smaller.

I cant picture how it would work and not look awful.  I think more than likely it will be ruined but should you come up with something please let us know.  We get lots of help requests in regards to this and our best advice is to pull it out and do it over making sure to count stitches in each row.

I'm guessing you mean width in the last 6 rows you made, and the rest is OK?

My advice is: No. Even if you messed up the first 6 rows.

Rip back and fix it.  Only 6 rows?  Good grief, I've ripped out several times more than 6 blankets worth of yarn to fix errors over the years.

Ripping and re-doing 6 rows is a lot less work to fix the problem than anything else I can think of; you can't cut it and seam it or fold it over like fabric.
