In the round is not nice to me 🤔😥

Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc + 1 ch now & throughout), "[1 dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 1] 7 times, sl st to 3rd ch to join" – 8 dc + 8 ch 1 spaces.

what does this mean? 7 double crochets in the 4th chain???

You can stuff an amazing # of stitches into 1 stitch or chain; I know I've stuffed close into 3 times 7 into 1 chain.

It's going to go around in a circle, and look like a spoked wheel--sounds like you may be starting a doily?  What pattern are you making?

I was going to suggest magic circle, but didn't want to confuse things further.

OP, it's going to look like this if you are doing this in yarn; I tried to hide the 'tail' by putting it under the first stitch (at the top)  in the scanner, and it looked a little messy so I made a red mark in the top of each of the DCs (hopefuly) for clarity.
