I can't figure this out...

Question

What size yarn this is - recycled silk yarn. I've looked at several different brands of this stuff, and none of them are sized. I found a great pattern that takes like 16 skeins of it, and the yarn store near me carries a kind of this stuff for $36 a skein.. so I was wondering if anyone knew of a poor-girl's substitute?

Thanks

It looks like a bulkier yarn (based on the yds per gram) - but hopefully someone else more knowledgeable than I will chime in, I've never used anything like that. It's beautiful but man that's a LOT of money!

Thanks.. It looks bulky, which is why it confuses me. WHen I looked at it in the store, it is actually quite thin with slugs. Under the yarn stuff in the magazine, it says "singles; 10 wpi" and unfortunately this magazine (interweave crochet) doesnt list the stupid yarn sizes! curses!

well, i dont know what wpi is. alas.
