Crocheted Embellishments ?

I have crocheted some embellishments to put on a hat, do I sew them on with regular thread? How do I attach them?

What kind of yarn did you use?  I have read that sewing thread is so fine and tough that it can cut yarn.  But acrylic yarn is pretty tough too.

I usually use the yarn that I used for the appliques and sewed them on with that. This way it gives it a bit of strength and often matches the embellishment.

If you made it with plied yarn I usually undo the plies and just use one strand of it.
