What to charge ?

A co-worker wants me to crochet a beanie for her grand daughter. I told her to buy the yarn for the project, but I don't have a clue what to charge for making a slouchy beanie. Can you help??

I hate to guess, maybe some others out there, can help you, sorry, have fun!

Some go by the 3x the cost of yarn equation. I usually charge $15 for a character beanie (think owl or cartoon) and $20 for an earflap beanie (made from red heart super saver) if that helps any.

For our booths in crafts shows, our non-profit crochet club charges $5.00 for each slouchy hat.  They aren't fancy, but they are pretty!

How old is the granddaughter?  If she is a younger than 10 I suggest $5.00 to $8.00 for the labor.  If she's a teenager or older I suggest $8.00 to $15.00 based on the intricacy of the pattern and the time involved.
