it is also done in the back loop only, which makes the ridge you see where the front loop is visible.

I don't think it's done in the back loops though as I think that's the way hdc looks when done in rows.

Sarisue, i see what you mean. My hdc does not have as much of a definite ridge as in Roley's photo, but maybe that is just the yarn used and the angle of the photo.
