help with the last round

Alayna Nunes

Question

hi im fairly new to crochet, i have been crocheting a doily, but at so confused on the last round, it says

12th rnd: Ch 6, * 1 d c in same loop, ch 3, 1 s c in center ch of ch-5 of 10th rnd having the ch-6 of 11th rnd caught by this s c, ch 3, 1 d c in next ch-3 loop ch 3. Repeat from * to end of rnd. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of ch-6 first made.

when it says at the beginning ch6, 1 dc in same loop, what loop does it mean?

Thanks

Not seeing a link to the pattern.

By what you've typed, you started the last round with chain loops (and are starting round 12 with a chain-6 loop, too).

What the instructions are saying is to make a dc into the loop that 'is in front of you'; you don't make it into a stitch, you yarn over, put your hook under the loop, and complete the dc so the bottom of the dc is made around the chain loop.

The next stitch might be more confusing (more so reading than doing) - you are reaching under the chain-5 loop 2 rounds below and making a sc around both that chain loop and the chain loop right above it.  This makes sort of a bow tie or butterfly looking effect.

I've had to remove the link to the pattern from the first post, as it was a link through the wayback machine.

We can only allow links to where a copyright owner is currently allowing links to be posted. If a pattern is no longer available on an active website, that's because the copyright owner has chosen not to make it available.

Posting a public link to the pattern through the wayback machine could be seen as contributory copyright infringement, and we'd just as soon steer clear of that legal problem. :)
