ripple balnket help

I am making a ripple blanket and the pattern says to "skip next ch-1 sp" does anybody know what that means cause I don't and I think that is why my ripple blanket is not rippling!!!!

On the row you are working into, you would skip the next chain one space and work into whatever the pattern says.

That is what I did but the crochet rows are supposed to ripple but instead they are straightening out!

you won't be able to see the ripple very well in the first few rows.  How many rows have you done?  

 

What pattern are you using?

I have done about 8 rows and the pattern is called Malibu Ripple

Where is the pattern located?

 

I think by the 8th row you should be able to see the "hills and valleys" of the pattern.

It is out of an old book that my Great Aunt gave my. Maybe if I pull out a few rows and crochet just a little tighter it might help.

What is the name of the book the pattern is in.  You crocheting tighter isn't going to make the blanket go into a ripple design and without seeing the pattern it's hard to tell, but you're probably doing something wrong.  Skipping ONE chain isn't going to make much of a ripple unless that particular part of the pattern repeats.  You normally skip a minimum of two stitches to do the valley and add a minimum of two stitches to make the peak.  Even if this pattern is a very slight ripple, you'd see the pattern by 8 rows.

 

I've looked online and found a pattern called malibu ripple but it might not be the one you have - they're always naming different afghans by same names.  If you can tell us the name of the book your pattern is in someone might have it and can look at the pattern to see what you're doing wrong.
