trouble already

I am working on this afghan

 

I am at row 9 and I haven't a clue as to how to proceed - My problem is at the very beginning

 

My problem is that my ch3 loops won't be centred.  What am missing

I think the first shell is worked starting in the middle and you finish up with the missing ch 3 at the end of the round. The repeat has 4 sc with three ch3 between them. The first one is just finished up at the end of the round.

 

Does that make sense?

It sort of makes sense but I will have to wait until tonight to be able to think it through.  I did wonder if that might be the way it worked but the end of the row couldn't get into my foggy brain.
