Amigurumi small hook fat yarn....

SlowCrocheter

Question

Going to try some of these but all the patterns call for small hooks and fat yarn any tips on how to do this and not have to hurt your hands?  I tried one before but all the tugging was annoying. And the yarn kept getting hung up.

Any tips would be great.

Thank you

You always use a smaller hook size thank generally suggested for the type of yarn, when crochetin amis, toys, dolls etc. that have to be stuffed.  You have to create a tight fabric so that the stuffing won't show through the finished object.

This might a good time to consider test driving some of the ergo nomiic handled hooks - I prefer something with a softer feel (although not necessarily foam)
