Yarn color question

My niece-to-be requested her wedding afghan be in plum colored yarn. What color would work? Dark purple? Also what color(s) would work for accent?

 

I don't have a pattern picked out yet but I was toying with the idea of argyle (which would require at least three colors, depending on how many diamonds I decide to do). Pattern ideas are welcome also.

to me, plum is a very red purple, like plum jelly.  I would accent it with a dark, more blue purple, and a clear spring green.

Now to find some yarn I can afford.

Premier yarn has a really pretty plum yarn and lots of colors to go with it. I love using this yarn, so soft and nice to work with.

 

Wow, Willow yarn has a good assortment of purple-ly yarns, too. What great colors to choose from, have fun!

 

How fun is this! I think picking the yarns to use is as much fun as making a project!
