Carrying Yarn Up a Row

nowemapa

Question

I have a pattern to make the Milky Way Blankie I found in Crochet Today: http://www.crochettoday.com/crochet-patterns/milky-way-blankie.

The directions say when changing colors, carry up the yarn to the next row.  So basically, in my head, if I look on the back, there will be an inch of yarn that's showing on every row.  Is this correct?  If not, how do you hide the yarn?

The blankie is made in a round if that helps.

I can't tell if it's single or double crochet by the picture, but you can try sort of grabbing the yarn to be carried up and crochet around it so it doesn't show.  If you're doing a double crochet, when you yarn over the hook, make that piece of yarn part of the yarn over.

Hmm, It looks like this milky way blankie might be done in a spiral stitch, is it? The center of the Blankie looks similar to this spiral stitch tutorial.

If it's spiral st, the yarn will be right where you need it, easy peasy. I've used it for dishcloths, it's a fun stitch to do.
